Index tabs are printed on the paper with all positions in a row at one time. If there are seven
tabs in a row, the sheet is printed with all seven titles at once. In the die cutting process, only the tab desired is left and the rest is die-cut away.
This allows fewer plates to be made and higher quantities to be printed on one set-up. It then becomes important to know if there is printing on the main
portion of the sheet. If there is, there will be a plate change for every copy and applicable charges. After the paper is printed, it is die-cut. The die-cutting
machine has cutting dies which are on a track that can be adjusted to many positions. The sheets are die cut, leaving the paper in the shape of an index
tab. We also have machines which are capable of both fusing and die-cutting. The tabs are collated and drilled as required then bulk packed in boxes for
shipment.
